AmeriCOM Welcomes New Leadership

After 2.5 years as AmeriCOM’s Chief Scientist, Justin Sigley has been named President and CEO, succeeding Dave Shelton, who has served in the role since 2024. Justin brings extensive experience in research, product development, and electro-optical systems engineering across advanced optics, defense, and commercial applications. He earned his PhD in Physics from Wake Forest University and has held research and engineering positions at Tesseract Sensors, St. Johns Optical Systems, and BEAM Engineering for Advanced Measurements.

Justin has more than 15 years of experience developing and transitioning advanced optical systems for defense and commercial applications, including laser range-gated imaging and high-energy laser beam control. His technical leadership and industry experience inform his work advancing high-energy laser optics metrology, sustainable manufacturing, and scalable technology solutions for the defense industrial base. He serves on the Laser Focus World editorial advisory board, has authored numerous technical publications including two patents, and has briefed members of Congress and senior government leaders on his work.
